The Cleft Summit will convene annually at the Comprehensive Cleft Care Workshop, powered by Global Smile Foundation. In 2023, this event will take place in Barcelona, Spain.

FOCUS
The inaugural Cleft Summit took place on October 11, 2022 during the 5th Comprehensive Cleft Care Workshop held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The first meeting brought together 32 global leaders in multidisciplinary cleft care to examine and explore the
interdisciplinary evaluation and management of
velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI).
The Cleft Summit delivered the following:
A statement on the optimal surgical and diagnostic
approaches to VPI.
• The design of a multi-center study to test the
approach described in the statement.
• The formation of focus groups to further refine and
launch the study.
Dr. Raj Vayas will present the initial recommendations
from the 2022 Cleft Summit at the ACPA’s Annual
Meeting in May 2023.
